What is a cold foil?

Cold stamping foil, also known as cold foil, is a thin layer of metallic or pigmented material that can be transferred onto a substrate using pressure and adhesive. It is called "cold" foil because it does not require heat or a die to transfer the foil onto the substrate.

What is difference between cold foil and hot foil?

To apply the cold stamping foil, the release liner is first removed, exposing the PSA layer. The foil is then placed on the substrate, and pressure is applied using a laminator, a pressure roller, or a similar device. This pressure activates the adhesive layer, allowing the foil to bond to the surface.

How does cold foil work?

One of the advantages of cold stamping foil over hot stamping foil is its ease of use and affordability for small-scale projects or customizations. However, it may not be as durable as hot stamping foil and is more suitable for low-wear and low-temperature applications.
